My names Courtney Penny. I am a beauty therapist and nutritionist at Pure Indulgence and I have been given the opportunity to write a regular column for our clients.
My goal is to pass on some of my knowledge - giving you all tips, recipies and motivation to help you look and feel fabulous, as I believe, true beauty grows from the inside out.
I'd like to begin by talking about HYDRATION!
Hydration is the way to a healthy, youthful skin and body!
Every cell in our body needs to be properly hydrated in order to function at its full potential.
Water is key!
I know plain old water can be abit boring sometimes, so at Pure Indulgence we have a few tricks up our sleeve to make sure we're sipping throughout the day:
1. Lemon water on rising
Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into a glass of warm water and drink it first thing in the morning.
Lemons are full of Vit C (an immune boosting and collagen forming anitoxident) that kick starts your metabolism - helping aid in your bodies ability to digest your food throughout the day.
2. Herbal Teas
We make two or three hot cups of strong herbal tea each morning (our favourites are; pomegranate & raspberry and Blueberry & Apple) and add them to a dispenser of around 4L of cold water for us and our clients to drink during the day.
It makes such a nice change from plain water. We like to mix it up every now and then by also adding sesonal fruit/herbs such as lemon and mint. You can add any fruit/vege/herb combonation you like! You're only limited by your imagination!
3. Drink bottles
I love cold water (especially on a hot day) so having a water bottle in the fridge waiting for me after a treatment is essential! Drink bottles are also a great indicator as to how much water you've consumed throughout the day AND you can take them with you when your on the move so you remember to drink up!
There are so many awesome drink bottles out there now that help reduce the amount of plastic waste we produce and also don't have any of the nasty chemicals (BPA's etc) found in your regular plastic disposable bottles (they look cool too!). We find glass bottles to be the best!
Keep your eyes peeled for my next article where we'll talk about EFA's;
What are they, how do we get them and how are they essential for hydrated, healthy skin, organs and hormones!
